Music Ed Minors

This is the rationale behind NDSU's Music Ed Minors, as Kyle understands them as of 2025-09-15:

NDSU's Music Ed Minor setup is designed to streamline licensing for Minnesota educators.

North Dakota teaching licenses are governed under ND Administrative Code 67.1. In it, it states more or less that one can get a license in any field they majored or minored in, or if they have at least 24 credits, they can file for a minor equivalency. Teaching Licenses from NDSU alums show up as being a MAJOR: Instrumental (12005) (or vocal 12015) Music, MINOR: Vocal (or instrumental) Music. Teaching licenses from UND, VCSU, and Concordia alums show up as being MAJOR: Music (12010). For NDSU, UND, VCSU, and Concordia, the licenses are otherwise identical in terms of classes allowed to teach.

Minnesota licenses differentiate between vocal and instrumental, and the same teachers whose licenses I pulled in both states do appear differently. NDSU alums show instrumental and vocal endorsements in most cases, while students from other schools show only Instrumental or Vocal.
