6 Scholarships
Scholarships
Many music majors receive scholarship support during their time at NDSU. To be eligible for scholarships through the Challey School of Music (CSoM), students must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in music courses
- Show continued progress toward their degree, including:
- Success in applied lessons and ensembles
- Regular meetings with their advisor
- Staying on track with required coursework by semester
Annual Application Process
- Students must apply for scholarships every year in January
- Watch for CSoM announcements about specific dates:
- February 1: Deadline for University Scholarships
- March 1: Deadline for CSoM Scholarships
Applications are submitted through the NDSU Academic Works portal
Scholarships are available for entering freshmen and returning students.
The Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award
The Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award is a prestigious award funded by The Presser Foundation (Philadelphia, PA). The CSoM has awarded this scholarship for the past 20 years, though it is not guaranteed annually.
Key Details:
- Intended for a rising senior music major
- Features a separate application process, typically announced in February or March
- Awarded to a talented, academically strong student who demonstrates:
- Dedication to their musical career
- Commitment to the Challey School of Music
The recipient of this award is designated as the Presser Scholar during their senior year.
