Conferences and Competitions
Attending Professional Conferences
NDSU music students frequently attend and/or participate in professional music conferences at the local, regional, and national levels.
- Financial assistance may be available from the Challey School of Music (CSoM).
- Students must request advance permission to miss classes for any off-campus professional events, including conferences.
- Students who are at risk in music classes are discouraged from missing class for conference attendance.

Attending Competitions
NDSU students frequently compete in vocal competitions at all levels.
- Students should consult their applied voice teacher before entering any competition.
- Students must request advance permission to miss classes for competitions.
- Students are responsible for all associated costs, though limited financial support may be available (especially for NATS auditions).
